Indigenous Prosperity Foundation Welcomes Nicolas Durand

as Senior Finance Officer

The Indigenous Prosperity Foundation is pleased to welcome Nicolas Durand as our new Senior Finance Officer.

Nicolas brings a strong background in financial management, operational systems, and organizational stewardship. Raised in Atikokan, Ontario, and now based in Ottawa, he graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Business Accounting. He has built a career working across several industries including retail, marketing, technology startups, and the Indigenous non-profit sector.

Over the past six years, Nicolas has worked in Indigenous non-profit organizations supporting financial operations, most recently serving as Finance Manager with the Ontario Native Women’s Association. In that role he helped develop finance policies, implement financial systems, manage reporting
requirements, and work with ministries and partners to support sustainable funding structures.

His experience across both private and non-profit environments brings valuable perspective to the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation as we continue expanding programs and partnerships across the country.

At IPF, Nicolas will play a key role in strengthening financial stewardship that supports initiatives such as MoneySmarts, Launchpad, research initiatives, and community partnerships. Strong financial systems help
ensure programs operate with transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

“Financial stewardship is what makes programs like MoneySmarts and entrepreneurship initiatives possible,” Nicolas shared. “When organizations manage resources wisely and operate with transparency and accountability, they can ensure every dollar has meaningful impact.”

Behind every successful program is a dedicated team working to ensure resources are managed responsibly and effectively. Nicolas’s work will help support the financial systems that allow IPF’s programs, partners, and communities to continue building pathways toward prosperity.

“I look forward to combining the processes I’ve seen across varied organizations and the lessons I’ve learned from the Indigenous community together to support the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation’s vision.”

Please join us in welcoming Nicolas to the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation team.
