Tanner Timothy | nənqəm to Its Board of Directors
The Indigenous Prosperity Foundation is pleased to welcome Tanner Timothy | nənqəm to its Board of Directors.
Tanner is a member of Tla’amin First Nation and Wei Wai Kai First Nation in British Columbia. He carries the ancestral name nənqəm, which translates to Killer Whale in the ʔayʔaǰuθəm language.
Tanner serves as a Legislator of Tla’amin First Nation, Vice-Chairman of the Islands Trust Conservancy, and Manager of Heritage, Referrals and GIS with Kwantlen Lands, Resources and Stewardship. He also serves as Secretary-Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Naut’sa mawt Resources Group.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Trinity Western University and a post-graduate Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Tanner brings experience in governance, land stewardship, heritage, geographic information systems, community development and Indigenous advocacy.
His leadership is grounded in the cultural and traditional teachings he has received through intergenerational knowledge transfer. As a second-generation Residential School Survivor, Tanner honours his late father, a Residential School Survivor and master carver, through his commitment to Survivors, families, truth and reconciliation, cultural revitalization and collective healing.

Tanner sees Indigenous prosperity as the ability for Indigenous people to be proud of who they are and celebrate their heritage, while breaking cycles of poverty and harm through pathways to financial security. He is especially connected to creating safe spaces for training, education and mentorship that support the personal development of Indigenous entrepreneurs.
He is also an artist and created the BC Lions’ 2024 Orange Shirt design. Across his creative, professional and community work, Tanner advocates for Residential School Survivors and speaks about truth, reconciliation and the importance of building healthy, culturally strong communities.

Tanner’s appointment strengthens IPF’s governance and brings an important intergenerational perspective to our work. We are honoured to welcome him to the Board and look forward to his contributions as IPF continues creating equitable opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs across Canada.
